At the core of what we do in our clinical practice to treat ADD and ADHD routinely without medication, is to employ neurofeedback therapy. Neurofeedback therapy is a therapy that helps regulate the brain and provides proper function when function has been lost. It uses a noninvasive EEG, not only diagnostically to map the brain and determine where there is dysfunction that is causing the ADD or ADHD, but also therapeutically, again, noninvasively to help the brain perform better. That is the core of what we do in our clinical practice and what I have seen to be the best and most effective non-drug treatment for ADD and ADHD.
In addition to that, brainwave entrainment therapy, which uses light and sound stimulation is another wonderful way to help provide proper brain function thus easing the symptoms of ADD and ADHD, and even reversing the condition.
Of course, in our practice, we definitely need to address underlying metabolic issues that might be going on throughout the brain and body. One of the most common things that I see is a low-grade systemic inflammation that affects the neurons in the brain that can cause dysfunction leading to the symptoms and the condition of ADD and ADHD.
